Langhap, Sarap!

I’m on my 8th week of pregnancy and my cravings have really kicked in.  I’m doing spaghetti now, nothing special, just your ordinary dependable Jollibee!

My mom has been especially sweet, calling up to ask what I’d like to eat befor dropping by.  This week – pinuslitan niya ako ng dinuguan from Red Ribbon! Haha!  Hubby doesn’t approve of it kasi.  The baby might turn dark daw. Sus!

It’s been a joy to have my mom around during these exciting but difficult days.  I am truly blessed. 😉

P.S.   I’m back on bedrest. ;-(

Changing Times …

Dinner with Nessa at Bellini’s, Cubao.

It used to be this hole in the wall Italian restaurant (owned by a Filipina who married an Italian chef) located at the back of Marikina Shoe Expo in Cubao.  It has since expanded to include the unit next to it and a slot at busy Greenbelt Complex.

The Marikina Shoe Expo of our childhood seem to have changed and gone through a make-over.  Gone were the shoe shops known for its “pasadya” design, durable and cheap prices.  In its stead are open bars, a steak house, a palm reading nook and a few units offering art work and imported goods.  Times have truly changed…

And so have we.  Nessa is my oldest and dearest friend.  She’s among the first person I texted to share the news of my pregnancy.  She immediately called me after to say “Buntis na si Gilda…,” awe and disbelief in her voice.  I could even imagine her expression!

She tells me that she’s going through a mid-life crisis.  I tell her I’m going through a crisis too – the gastronomic sort!  ;-p

We have shared so much fun and secrets together.  How we have changed and grown…but never apart.  Just as when I shared my childhood dreams with her so I am glad to be able to share my hopes and aspirations about motherhood with her.

Times may have changed, but I’m glad some things haven’t.  😉

Escape from Involuntary Detention!

My two (2) weeks prescribed bedrest ends today!

Although I welcomed the idea of easing my discomfort and assuring the safety of the baby, I was not particularly unhappy to finally get out of my stuffy, cloistered room away from the glare of the television that has since been my companion.

My mom must have sensed my depression from being couped up.  She picked me up today and we had lunch at Banna Leap, a Thai restaurant.  I was particularly looking for the beef dish similar to the one we had at Pennang.  Theirs, unfortunately, wasn’t as good and I had to setlle for their chicken satay.

Mom and dad are pretty excited over the baby.  They have been especially attentive.  I enjoy their ministrations and quiet pampering.  I am happy to share this moment of my life with them. 🙂

In God’s Perfect Time

Today marks our 2nd year anniversary!  Truly a feat for us but one marked with much excitement and happy memories!

We celebrated it at Cyma, Trinoma – a greek meditteranean restaurant we love for its arugula salad and spaghetti with feta cheese and grilled shrimp.  They have exotic names for these dishes, but right now, it just evades me.  Suffice to say, it was a yummy feast perfect for the occasion!

It seems such an opportune time for the baby to come this year.  We are no longer leasing a condo and have settled in our new home.  Adjustment as a couple is nearly over (I think?) and having an instant family to manage is less daunting.

Truly, the Lord is good.  He gives in His own perfect way and perfect time.
